Horror Book Covers – 1st Print Design

Horror Book Covers – 1st Print Design

This was an assignment given to test my creativity by using multiple programs in Adobe CC. I have to make a horror book using a piece of a song’s lyrics, specifically an old song before the 80s. We also have to use 3+ custom elements in the mockup.

Used Method

I decided to go with photography and went by using several minor sources that were available to me during the time. Next, I took a photo of the same pieces of paper except, the ripped one is now completely ripped in half, I placed the ripped paper above the whole paper. when I took the photos of paper I made sure the value of white is pure along with a good amount of shadows being cased from the rips.

The First Tear in the Book

I decided to take a photo of 2 pieces of paper, with one being extremely punctured and ripped. Before taking a photo I placed the extremely damaged piece of paper over the Untouched paper. I also made sure both papers are the same color. Having alternating colors would ruin the editing process because of heavy contrast and shadows.

The Spine

Next I took a photo of the same pieces of paper except, the ripped one is now completely ripped in half, I placed the ripped paper above the whole paper. When I took the photos of paper I made sure the value of white is pure along with a good amount of shadows being cased form the rips.

The Teeth

Finally, I took a photo of my mouth about to bite something, after I took the photo I punched the saturation and contrast to nearly the highest setting. that way it gives a filthy yet dramatic appearance.
